Today turned out to have much better weather than we had dared hope for! All that praying to St. Peter (patron saint of good weather apparently) must have worked!!
Tour Day 6: Frolicking in the Swiss Alps!!
We had originally planned to do some of the hikes above Murren, but they were still covered in snow in May. It's a good reason to come back! Instead we joined Andrea and the group on a hike along the blue line in the morning. We had a wonderful time enjoying the views and learning about the portion of the Alps we were walking through from Murren (underlined in purple) to Grutschalp. The hike was very easy. Once in Grutschalp you could take the gondola down to the valley floor, you could take a little train back to Murren as Deb did, or hike back along the same path to Murren as Brett, Andrea, and I did. This direction was a little more uphill, but not bad at all. Meeting back up in Murren the 3 of us then wandered down the nice path to Gimmelwald (orange line) after lunch. We checked out the honesty shop and bought cheese and sausage from a fridge in someone's mudroom. By the way, the cheese and sausage were divine!!

A Musical Evening in the Swiss Alps!Andrea headed to the little grocery store this morning for some wine and beer for our happy hour before our musical evening and group dinner, and with Brett's help carrying all of it stored it on the cool area of our balcony until the evening. We all arrived about an hour before our music started so we could try some wines and cheese and chat about what everyone did that day. A lot of us donated different cheeses, nuts, or wine to the offerings. We then enjoyed amazing musicians performing on an Alp Horn and accordion. I grew up doing the polka at weddings so Brett and I got up and danced! That was a highlight of the trip - dancing with my husband in the Swiss Alps! Then we all followed our accordion player around the room dancing to the music. What great fun!!

These Are A Few of My Favorite Things!
I absolutely loved the Swiss cows with their softly chiming bells echoing among the hills! We had a fantastic dinner of Swiss fondue. The scenery we experienced during our stay was amazing!! And of course, we LOVED our musical evening and getting the chance to dance in the Swiss Alps!
