Tour Day 10: Roaming Salzburg and an Amazing Concert!
Early Morning Photography ~ SalzburgNight photography can result in some amazing photos. I also love early morning photography for the different light it provides and Salzburg was one place we also got out early. The Mirabell Gardens were close to our hotel and absolutely beautiful! There was hardly anyone there at 6 am, some runners and yoga practitioners, so it was so easy to get some beautiful garden photos without people in them. It was so peaceful and calm and wonderful to just wander, photograph, and truly take time to enjoy the setting we were in. Don't just stay out late, get out early and you will be richly rewarded!

A Salzburg Walking Tour
Werner led us on our walking tour of Salzburg, taking us from our hotel to Mirabell Palace and Gardens and then along the river to a bridge covered in locks. We were able to wander a square with a market going on and got to see the preparations for Pentecost at the Salzburg Cathedral, though we couldn't go in because of the festivities. We loved Salzburg so it's a good reason to go back! He then left us near the town wall to continue on with our day.
An Afternoon in SalzburgAfter our morning walking tour with Werner, Andrea said she was going to head up on top the Monchsberg for a walk and anyone who wanted to come with was welcome. We of course headed up with most of the group as it was on our list of things to do anyway. Our first stop was a little cafe for a light lunch. We all then wandered at our own pace along the ridge towards the fortress. We took our time as the views over the city were spectacular! We then hoofed it up a pretty steep entrance to the fortress and explored the entire thing. After heading down to the town we visited St. Peter's Church and cemetery and St. Sebastian cemetery across the river, which was more Italianate in style. St. Sebastian was very close to our hotel, so we headed back there to clean up for our evening out.

Schlosskonzert/Concert at the Mirabell PalaceAll three of us love going to classical music concerts and so jumped at the chance while we were in Salzburg. We were so glad we did!! As Rick Steves says 'Baroque music flying around a Baroque hall is a happy bird in the right cage,' and boy is it! Mozart and Vivaldi in the baroque Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace was one of the best concert experiences of our lives!! Mirabell Palace was built in 1606 by prince-archbishop Wolf Dietrich for his love, Salome Alt. In the Marble Hall Leopold, Wolfgang, and Nannerl Mozart once performed music. Ensemble 1756 focuses on the original interpretation of Mozarts works and plays on historical instruments. Afterwards, we enjoyed the lit fountains of the Palace gardens.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things!
I loved wandering Salzburg at night. It was so beautifully lit you don't want to go back to your hotel! The gardens of Mirabell Palace were gorgeous, and the views over Salzburg breathtaking. And of course I just loved our Mirabell Palace concert!!
